# How It Works

Habitat creates a seamless pipeline from **green energy** to **usable compute** — backed by real infrastructure and made accessible through tokenized mechanics.

At its core, the system transforms surplus renewable energy into a **programmable, tradable digital asset** — and then into real compute services through a simple three-step process:

***

#### **1. Stake $HABITAT → Earn Green Credits**

Users begin by staking $HABITAT, the native token of the ecosystem.

Staking initiates your claim on renewable energy capacity within Habitat's infrastructure. In return, you earn **Green Credits** — digital units that represent access rights to future compute power generated by surplus clean energy.

Green Credits are not speculative.\
They are minted against the real-world output capacity of our physical data centers and infrastructure deployments.

This turns staking into a **yield mechanism backed by energy**, not hype.

***

#### **2. Use Green Credits → Mint Energy Vouchers**

Green Credits can then be used to **mint Energy Vouchers** — fungible digital assets that represent a specific amount of real computing power.

Each Energy Voucher is:

* **Programmable** (via smart contracts)
* **Transferable** (to other users or businesses)
* **Redeemable** (for AI compute, storage, mining, or blockchain infrastructure)
* **Proof-backed** by clean energy usage at Habitat facilities

Think of them as tokenized compute credits, issued against real, surplus green energy — a bridge between energy markets and digital economies.

***

#### **3. Use or Trade → Redeem Compute or Monetize Your Energy**

Once you hold Energy Vouchers, you have two main options:

* **Use Them**: Redeem vouchers to run workloads directly through Habitat Services. That includes:
  * AI training/inference
  * Decentralized storage
  * GPU/CPU batch compute
  * Blockchain validation & mining
* **Trade Them**: Vouchers can also be traded on [Habitat’s marketplace ](#user-content-fn-1)[^1]— a liquidity layer for energy-backed services. Sell to businesses, AI labs, chains, or anyone needing reliable, sustainable computing power.

This unlocks a circular ecosystem where clean energy can be monetized without ever touching a grid.

***

#### **From Sun to Server: A New Energy Economy**

Habitat makes energy **liquid, useful, and valuable** — even when it’s off-grid or geographically isolated.

We bypass legacy energy bottlenecks and build programmable infrastructure that lets you:

* **Earn from renewable energy**
* **Buy or sell computing capacity**
* **Deploy real workloads on clean infrastructure**

This is more than offsetting emissions. It’s **activating idle power** and converting it into the currency of the future: compute.

**Habitat turns sunlight, wind, and water into decentralized intelligence.**
